Meet Maple, one of the beautiful young females we're raising for the future of Aspen Maine Coons.

Maple is a striking bown/black classic tabby Maine Coon with the bold, swirling pattern that makes the classic tabby coat so beautiful. She has that wonderful Maine Coon combination of impressive looks and an endearing personality, and we're excited to watch her mature.

Maple's Journey to Aspen Maine Coons

Maple joined our family alongside Birdie during one of our cat-show adventures.

Bringing home two future females at the same time was certainly exciting, especially when they met Gandolf.

Fortunately, introductions couldn't have gone much better.

The three youngsters quickly became comfortable together, and watching their relationships develop has been one of the fun parts of bringing Maple and Birdie into our home.

More Than a Beautiful Coat

It's easy to fall in love with a Maine Coon because of appearance.

That magnificent coat.

Those ears.

That tail.

That unmistakable Maine Coon presence.

But when I'm considering a cat for my breeding program, beauty is only the beginning.

Pedigree, temperament, structure, health history, and how a cat may complement our existing bloodlines all play a role.

Maple was chosen with the future in mind.

Growing Up Comes First

Although Maple is a potential future mother at Aspen Maine Coons, there's absolutely no rush. Right now, she's simply growing up. She's playing, exploring, developing her personality, and enjoying life as a young Maine Coon. These months allow me to watch her mature and learn who she is before making future breeding decisions.

Health Comes Before Breeding

Being selected as a potential breeding cat is only the beginning of the process.

Maple will continue to be evaluated as she matures, and her echocardiogram and hip evaluation are planned for November 2026.

Health screening, veterinary guidance, pedigree information, temperament, and physical development all help me make thoughtful decisions about the future of each cat in my program. A place in our breeding program is never based on appearance alone.

Looking Toward the Future

One of my favorite parts of breeding is imagining what carefully selected combinations might someday produce. But those plans are always secondary to the individual cat standing in front of me. Before Maple is a breeding cat, she's Maple. She's part of our home.

She's part of our family. And she deserves the opportunity to simply grow into the magnificent Maine Coon she's becoming.

Meet the Next Generation

Maple represents another exciting step forward for Aspen Maine Coons.

Over the coming months, we'll continue watching her develop, completing her health evaluations, and learning more about the young lady she's becoming. If everything develops as we hope, someday there may be little Maple babies running through our home.

For now, though, she has much more important business to attend to...

Growing, playing, exploring, and keeping Gandolf on his toes.

Welcome to Aspen Maine Coons, Maple. We can't wait to watch your story unfold. 🐾
