Let's clear up one of the biggest misconceptions about Maine Coons.

NO, Maine Coons are NOT hypoallergenic!

Despite what you may read online, Maine Coons produce allergens just like other cats.

Cat allergies are primarily triggered by proteins found in saliva, skin secretions, and dander, not simply by the length or amount of fur.

Some people with allergies may tolerate certain individual cats better than others, but that doesn't make the Maine Coon breed hypoallergenic.

At Aspen Maine Coons, we believe in being completely honest with prospective families. We would never promise that one of our kittens won't trigger allergies.

If someone in your household has cat allergies, please take that into consideration before bringing a Maine Coon home.

We love these magnificent cats, but we'd rather help families make informed decisions than perpetuate a myth!
